Ecozean Island is an eco-friendly and self sustainable island that helps rid pollution in the ocean. Members of the public are able to have access to the island for educational purposes and to better understand Ecozean's purpose and learn alternative ways to help with the pollution issue.
900 million kg of plastic year is discarded annually, only 4% is recycled. Singapore experienced a drop in recycling rate especially for cardboards and paper. Declining recycling rate is majorly due to halting of karang guni and the infamous cash for trash scheme. Pandemic lead to higher rate of pollution due to meals ordered online and nothing is being done to stop this.
Pollution peeks with the highest rate. Only 4% of 900 million kg of plastic is recycled annually in Singapore.
This is where we decided to tackle the problem of pollution and start up our project which would help to reduce the annual plastic waste in Singapore and we are called ECOZEAN.
After years of research, approvals and project fund raisers, we are able to set out and start building our island which would help to reduce the problem of plastic pollution in Singapore.
The main island is being built and we will be working on the sub-islands. Visitors are allowed to come to the main island and we are accepting feedbacks to improve it. Soon the project will be finished, in about 10 years time.
After years of construction, the island is finally completed and operational. It is also open to the public such that they are able to understand more about the pollution situation in Singapore and learn on ways to help out the cause.
